re: society lists and types

FYI I think the post viewed nearly 2,000 times of the 51 societies is pretty good. You have the different vibes and they aren't grouped on how old they are. You have the geeky insular ones, the YSI new societies (side note: YSI has completed disbanded and they all have an independent tap process now), the drinking club societies, the balanced traditional/social ones, the old academic 6-hour bio societies, and the two debating societies.
It's getting time when you should try and narrow your choices. Most people will end up in a "Drinking Club" society or the "Traditional but Social" societies. Which are where the great experiences are imho. Avoid the new societies and the geeky ones. If you get a tap from the old academic ones be sure you know what you're getting into.

I totally agree !! I wish frats and sororitys were seen this way also instead of by tier (and i'm in a "good sorority" and I still feel this way.) Vibe is so much more important than any kind of prestige. And people keep hating on that post saying there's some sort of "agenda" but TBH its the most objective post I've seen on this website.
