100% real. Skull and Bones writes essays because obviously since it was founded by a bunch of old white dudes they have these pretentious traditions. like if you get a tap from skull and bones you're gonna accept but it's not like a "fun" society in any way. Desmos is pretty serious and they have every write essays in response to the weekly bios. And Wolf's Head is another academic type of society. Honestly would hate to spend my year doing that but whatever you get an old building on campus to meet in. Take your pick and assess what you value.

check the master list post. The societies in the "debating" category and the majority of the societies in the "very traditional" category are focused on extremely long bios, essay writing, group discussions, etc. They don't do fun stuff on Thursdays like the rest of the societies

That list is so hilariously wrong. Besides scroll skull and wolfs no other society in the traditional category writes essays. Not just desmos literally every society even newer ones ask you to write a response to the person who just gave a bio —could be a paragraph or a letter. It just makes the person feel good. Do not go by that list thread actually talk to seniors who know wtf they are talking about.
