rush

by: REality

Is the "progressive" sorority really allowing men to rush? Don't know where they are going with this but I love that they defy national regs all the time. Time for real institutional change! Bravo!

literally pi phi and kappa are known for being more politically conservative this has nothing to do with the tier system? nobody tries to pretend they're on theta's level lol... it was someone trying to draw a comparison between political makeup of 2 sororities, calm down

kappa had a co-ed mixer before any of the other sororities so not sure you can say they're politically conservative, even if some individuals are. pi phi also has a few outspoken conservatives but it's not like conservative on an organizational level. These are huge groups of people.

Does being a progressive sorority mean? That you defy national regs and do coed things?

If you look at Theta, they've been pretty bold in trying new things, even if it isn't in the rulebook. I think Pi Phi and Kappa have enough tenure on campus and years of campus/alum support to do something if they wanted. Alpha Phi is too new and on a short leash from nationals. If they want a house, they need to follow nationals rules to a tee.

Don't think A Phi can be progressive with their national ties at this point?

No. They can't. I think the first commenter was confused and thought the OP meant "progressive" as in the political ideology of the majority of girls in each sorority, lol. Theta is the oldest so they have the most leeway. Pi Phi is also pretty established, but they're very sororityty and don't want to deviate from the typical sorority image. Kappa...???? Yeah they definitely meant Theta lmao.

Agreed. A new sorority has no flexibility and is totally controlled by nationals.

Progressive means to push against status quo. That is Theta for sure and actually all the established sororities including Pi Phi and Kappa. Making Yale Proud! #MYP

I think they've done some thinking about all this and where the Greek system is really going at Yale given everything at Harvard.
