What if I don't like my house placement? Should I try again next year or make the best of it? I know I am going to hang out a lot with a group in another higher sorority, will my current sorority resent me for that?
I'm really disappointed in this whole Greek system so far, but I don't want to quit on it.

Every organization has great girls. While you may be surprised that you didn't end up in a different house (reputation, knowing older sisters, good friends with girls in that orgs' new member class), I'm sure you will find that the chapter you are in is just as great or better. It can be hard to trust the system, but I'd give it a chance. You have 6 weeks before initiation, try your hardest to get to know your new sisters. If you really don't like it and don't see any potential to grow in that chapter, then you can drop and try again next year. But after initiation you can no longer join other chapters. May also be worth giving the heads up that it can be significantly harder to go through as a sophomore.

Yes, although it will be harder, as long as you drop during this period. You can't ever join another organization if you go through initiation.
