by: HopefulHow much does physical appearance factor into rush? Do you have to be skinny and gorgeous just to fit in with a sorority at Elon? When I visited Elon it seemed like such an amazing place with down to earth people. All of the girls were so sweet. After reading some of the posts on here though, it seems like looks might matter more than sisterhood. I'm hoping that's not the case!

It really depends on which organizations you want to be a part of. Maybe half of those value appearance more than a lot of other factors, and the other half consider personality, GPA etc more heavily. If you aren't "gorgeous" but are clearly involved on campus, personable during recruitment and can be an asset to chapters in some form or another then yes, while you will be cut by some organizations, you can still find a sisterhood that is right for you. Also, definitely don't take the "which sorority is hottest" post seriously, the internet will be the internet.

Most of the organizations look for girls who take care of themselves, have good GPa, are personable and friendly and involved on campus. You don't have to be a stick or a model to get a bid. But you do have to be put together and wear clothes that are right for your body type.
