being dirty rushed???

by: Freshman Girl

I am a freshman girl and I have been on a ton of lunch dates with a bunch of girls (only in phi mu and tri sigma, no other girls have reached out to me at all, which I found a little weird). Are going on all these dates a good thing? Or are they just taking me out to get to know me....? All of this recruitment stuff has me so stressed out. Also I hope it's not dirty rushing either 0.0 wouldn't want to be a part of that.

Don't put too much stock into the lunch dates. They are just trying to get to know you to see if you are a good fit for their organization. Plenty of girls that go on lunch dates get bids to those groups, or groups that they never went on a date with. Plus, you are not obligated to return to these sororities if you aren't feeling the connection during recruitment.

Part of the problem with lunch dates is that if you keep being seen on dates with girls from one organization then others will assume that's where you want to go and that they want you and may cut you for this reason. Keep that in mind if you are going our repeatedly with the same group! It's burned a lot of people in the past!

While it's not technically dirty rushing, it totally sucks if you get your hopes up that you will be joining one of the chapters who you do lunch dates with. I did multiple lunch dates with one chapter, they kept me all the way through pref so I thought I would get a bid and barely paid any attention to the other sororities. It was a shock on bid day when I didn't get a bid from them. I'm happy now, knowing I probably wouldn't have really fit in with them, but it really stung on bid day. So just keep an open mind.
