recommendations?

I am a freshman who is looking to rush. I am pretty unfamiliar with the process. Some friends at bigger universities all had to get a bunch of recommendations. I have heard that Elon sororities dont require them but that they will accept them. Is this the case? Can I get a bid without recommendations?
