how much does sorority life actually cost??

by: $$

When I'm a freshman next year, I'm thinking about joining a sorority but I'm worried about the cost. My parents probably won't want to pay for it so I'll probably be responsible for it.

If you're in an organization, can you list the costs please!!

$400 per semester but it differs depending what sorority you're in.

Honestly, I'd spend $400 in the first month on outfits, mixers and ubers. The higher the tier, the more you will pay.

The actual dues to a sorority are like 300-400 a semester. The real cost comes in when you have to shell out money for philanthropy, t shirts, dresses, Uber’s, big/little, parties, etc.

Top Tier
You spend $2000 a year.
You spend $1000 on your little but that is only once your second year

All the of these answers are wrong. Sororities at Elon cost on average about $800 for dues, not including shirts and some other stuff. They will give you a list of all the different sororities’ dues in your recruitment guide.

Someone is a top tier reader. The first reply said ~$400 a semester. Do the math. While we wait, that's an overly conservative estimate. Think about all the even shirts and sweatshirts you have to buy and give to the guys that you sleep with at mixers. That's hundreds alone.

most of this is half right. Your new member dues your first semester can be anywhere from 600- 900. Then the semester dues after that are around 400. You will spend money on social tickets, t shirts, philanthropy events, and just going out in general. There are a lot more events to dress up for. I would set aside at least 500 for money I spent just on extra things my first semester or so.
