Sorry, but as an alum (and an experienced adult), you'll one day see that these self imposed rankings are nonsense. Best to be in an under the radar group where you aren't the focus of constant criticism and where you aren't always attempting to live up to false labels. Within every group are overweight girls (oh, the horror), pretty girls, popular girls, smart and not so smart ones. Because you think one group possesses more of one type than the other and somehow that matters, is a joke, and you will find this out in several years. The girls who want to be in a so called "top tier" aren't meeting any better friends than those in lower tier. What matters is what happens after you graduate and the friends you maintain. I think it's easier to be part of a group that values education, acceptance, and diversity - things that matter in the real world. Wish someone had told me that years ago, but I probably wouldn't have listened or taken it to heart, as I'm sure none of you will either. Girls on the so-called bottom tier, enjoy your friendships and sorority. Trust me, it's a blessing. When you graduate and move on with your lives, you will not go to work every day and look around your office and judge your co-workers on their appearance or popularity, but on how smart, successful, and kind they are. Support each other and value friendships, not labels. I was part of a top tier, and really, it doesn't make one bit of difference to anyone out in the real world. No one looks at me any differently, because frankly, no one cares, and they shouldn't. Now, girls, listen to your experienced elder and stop this tier insanity. It sounds so foolish and immature. It's very unbecoming and petty. And be kind to the "bottom tier", because from what I've learned out here, they'll likely be your bosses one day because they've learned to value what's most important. Enjoy sorority and everything it has to offer, be kind, and be respectful. It will take you far in the future.
