sorority recruitment

by: Frosh

Will not going to parties every weekend hurt my chances of getting into a middle/top tier sorority? I'm not a huge party person but really want to be in a well liked sorority at Elon.

I don't think it will hurt your chances. Keep it low key and you will be ok. I think its worse when someone is known as a huge drunk and out every night.

Being a party girl will get you known. You just can't be sloppy about it.

I can't keep up with the scene here. If I keep going out my grades will tank. Which is worse for rushing? Having crap grades or not being well known ? I don't know enough girls in all the sororities to even guess which one I would fit the best.

College is about time management. You have to keep the grades up, party, socialize, have a bf and stay up to date with fashion, music and TV.

You probably think you're supposed to sleep 8 hours a night.

I'm in a top tier sorority here and you definitely have to go out a decent amount but not going out one weekend isn't going to kill your chances. It's not about how frequently you go out it's about who you talk to when you go out. Day drinks and sorority sponsored events are the best places to meet girls. Like others said its better to be unknown and make an impression during recruitment than to be known as the sloppy wild party girl (unless you want sigma ;)).

I’m also dealing with the same issue. I’ve gone out at least once every weekend since I’ve gotten here but am not tired all the time and realize that if i don’t start investing time into academics I’m going to fail. I really want to rush into a top/top middle tier sorority in the spring but can’t jeopardize my academics. What should I do?
