Check out what has happened to chapters that were on probation and were later shut down by their national. See IU DDD, Nebraska DDD, Cal AOPi, OSU Kappa, Michigan Theta and the list goes on an and on... Long story short, in each of these cases pledges chose these houses only to experience their house charter being lost and the chapter no longer being recognized. In the case of IU the pledges hadn't gone through initiation so were 'free' to go through recruitment again as a sophomore. The issue is that recruitment will be super competitive as a sophomore and its unlikely most will be picked up by another house. Sad stories like this abound so do your research and know what you are signing up for. Maybe taking the risk will work out for you. But know that if you initiatiate and your house loses charter that you cannot join another sorority and you are SOL. Good luck to you.

There is only one sorority on probation and that is Phi Mu. It does not mean they are kicked out. Zeta was not kicked out either. zeta was on probation for their grades but that is a year ago they are fine now and so will phi mu. Phi Mu will sail thought this unscathed.

Yes, it is possible that if they do get kicked out and they have a PC in 18 the whole pledge class is screwed if they make it through 6 weeks and are initiated. But Phi Mu at this time is only on probation not licked off at this time. So you are confusing probation with being kicked out. That is where Phi Kap has been for the last 2 years, they were were kicked out for 2 years.

So what happens to the girls who didn't make their grades? For one thing I am really concerned that my grades won't be good enough and also if I am not able to keep them up what happens to me. I barely got into Elon and I really like a social scene so this is all a little freaky to me.
