really sad instance of a kid drinking too much on his crossing night, binge drinking is definitely a widespread issue among all greek life especially edging towards extremely dangerous on crossing nights when kids are trying to celebrate and accidently go past their limit. coming from a sorority girl who also went past my limit on my crossing night but luckily only woke up to an insane hangover. it could have happened to anyone cause this is the risk of binge drinking. the apd brothers are still great and they definitely have felt this huge loss

On the night of April 24th 2015 Nicholas "Nick" Holt was "officially" set to cross into APD's Stony Brook Chapter. This planned crossing successfully occurred and the brothers together had given the new members the traditional crossing beverage to consume. Shortly after Nick was non responsive on a couch in a home. The home was in the town of Poquott (1 oak street). Upon discovery of unresponsiveness, the brothers knew he went cold, he was dropped off at the hospital.
Speculation here, but typically 3 days of life support is critical but the infamous "May 1st" college decision deadline could have influenced the decision to keep Nick on critical support longer than the typically allowed period without moving him to a private facility.
Some very important facts are that APD at Stony Brook was inactive for a minimum of 11 months prior to the incident and should have been inactive during the incident. In May 2015 they were found responsible for violations that may have occurred as early as August 2014.
APD at stony brook has landed many folks in the hospital, sure other frats have, but APD holds the unofficial award for most admissions.
This raises serious questions. Did the university know about APD. Surly, the university would not leave a position such as Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority life VACANT at a time when a FRATERNITY should have been actively monitored to adhere to a given suspension of activities.
What is especially sad about the Spring 2015 semester is the individual, a graduate student & employee, who was responsible for greek life became aware of an apparent "rush" APD was having via a vulgar photograph of "rush APD" written on a bare chested female who attended stony brook at the time.
Lots more to say, look for the golden-wolf; there are truths and they are hidden. You can find them if you look

The SADDEST PART for SBU might not have been the death of a student....
It may have been the timing of the death almost IMMEDIATELY after the release of "Far Beyond" & IMMEDIATELY before the "May 1st college decision deadline."
Nearly half a million spent for brand recognition, the day comes, nothing changes... Why was the position of authority over greek life vacant... THEY DISPLAYED CLEAR SIGNS OF NEEDING SUPPORTIVE ADMINS.
Terrible Terrible Terrible.
RIP NICK, I'll keep your truths to be heard as your brothers enjoy the silence and distance from the truth.
Perhaps a distorted truth is the only way they can cope with the responsibility of what could have been manslaughter if investigated by the fbi (SEE PENN STATE).

Initial post should have stated the party occurred on April 24th 2016. (Not 2015 as shown above).
Fun fact: a group of AEPi members had a party at a private residence in August 2016 where a deck collapsed and students were injured.
Things changed. Big year for SBU. Shouldacouldawoulda done your job.
