transfer student,18 w/ an a.a. degree this spring
by: Wondering '19
Are fall transfer students typically welcomed and likely to receive a bid if they have something to offer a particular sorority? Based on last year's 2015 recruitment, what percentage of the girls who went through recruitment actually got a bid from at least one sorority? Finding a lifelong sisterhood is extremely important to me during my college years. I am not a legacy, but will have recommendation letters from my aunts, teachers, and that were in two particular sororities. Also, at least one recommendation for most of the other sororities at USM.
Thank you for any input or suggestions.

If you have good grades and involvement you should have no worries about receiving a bid. Do have a rec letter for every house because many require one to give a girl a bid. Greek Life at Southern Miss is very welcoming and as long as you are genuine and stay true to what values you want to find in a sisterhood, you should be able to find the perfect place to call home. Personally, there were transfers/sophomore/ juniors in my pledge class, so it is not uncommon to rush as an upperclassman. Hope that eases your worries!
