new sorority 2014??

It was just announced that Alpha Chi Omega will colonize at USM in the Fall of 2014. They will most likely participate in the first round (or 2?) of formal recruitment and then stop and wait until formal recruitment is over to continue their interview process and extend bids to their new pledge class. They will, most likely, focus more heavily on upperclassmen than the other 7 groups do just because they'll be looking to pledge a good cross-section of ages to fill the chapter to total. So while other groups may take 40 freshmen and 8-10 upperclassmen, Alpha Chi will probably take pretty equal numbers of fresh, sophomores, and jrs...and even some seniors! Alpha Chi's bid day will most likely be just a couple of weeks after the Bid Day for Formal Recruitment.

Alpha Chi has a VERY STRONG national presence and their reputation in this area of the country is VERY good. I'd expect them to do very well and wish them all the luck in the world!! I'm excited that they were the ones chosen and think that the timing is GREAT!!
