pledging?

I am going to be a freshman this Fall and have been considering pledging. I am not the cliché southern guy because I am not into the whole sports, fishing, hunting, or trucks stuff, so I was wanting some recommendations or to know if I am wasting my time. I had a lot of leadership roles in HS and am wanting to get involved on campus. Thanks for any help!
