No Greek life / social scene whatsoever

The school doesn’t care about greek life at all. it’s the only thing keeping the school alive. show some respect.

Almost every frat has a house with letters, only DZ and SigKap have houses with letters

You can be a straight GOOB and any frat will take you. Same thing with sororities here. All these girls look like whales and ogres.

Anyone who isn't involved with greek life should definitely join! It's amazing and brings you closer to so many other people!

The Greek population is very small, SIU hates Greeks. The Greek housing is good awful, few fraternities have houses, this upcoming semester that number is gonna go even further down considering that for a house to have Greek letters in it now, will have to have a sprinkler system installed in the house. Not every chapter house has them. There isn’t that much for Greeks on campus, this also factors in the odd recruitment process... there is no formal recruitment!!! Seriously this school hates Greeks. The party life has mostly turned into the bar scene, which is sad to the school cracking down even more on parties. The guys are good looking and so are the girls, some smokeshows here and there. There are not Greek guys than girls due to there being more frats than sorority’s. Pretty sure there are only two sorority houses with letters. Hazing isn’t the worse but by far TKE hazes the hardest, sadly no one does anything about it and they get away with anything. There really isn’t a competition to get a bid from any of the houses cause there is no formal recruitment. Overall the Greek life is in shambles and the Greek administration has its head up their ass. There isn’t even a Greek row.

Siu used to have all Greek housing on campus and was very large and successful. Over the past 15 years or so the Greek life has moved off campus and has suffered with establishing itself with any permanence, however it is making a come back. With it being off campus, it is harder for the Greek system to be as involved with the campus, but again every year they are improving. There are more fraternities, but the sororities have much larger populations. The Greek organizations all support various charities, and often can be seen picking up garbage on the side of the road. Check out the greek organizations and decide for yourself. They range from preppy to country, there is a group for everyone.

Lame
