can you make friends living off-campus?

by: HannahBanana

I'm a SoCal JC transfer. Right now I have on campus housing but I've found a really nice off-campus place 5 min off campus for cheaper. I don't know anyone at all so I want to make friends. Can you make as many friends as a commuter or should I live on-campus for the best shot? If I were to rush and make friends, would it be harder to hang out if I live off-campus?

the truth is that any and all friendships start with a person going out of their comfort zone. so if you are an outgoing person making new friends in any setting maybe easy. however, if you have a hard time going out and putting yourself out there it will be far more difficult. I would suggest giving rush a shot because you never know you could meet the people would be at your wedding or god parent to your children. living off campus isn't a big deal when it comes to hanging out with you friends and if you do rush you will probably have to spend time with the people around you if you get a bid.

Regardless of where you live, I really suggest going through rush. It really is a great way to meet people.
