for pnm's this fall...
by: Words of advice...
So the unending posts ranking each and every greek group (especially sororities) seems to have begun. I decided to put my 3 most important words of wisdom (for whatever they are worth) on here in the hopes of reaching to the women looking for their sorority home in the fall.
1. Look for a place you feel comfortable. Sorority membership is for a lifetime, not just the next 4 years. These women will become your closest and best friends so choose wisely.
2. Don't base your decision off what someone else says is the "best" or "worst" chapter. This is especially important since a new group is coming on campus. ALL groups have something to offer. Smaller chapters may offer better chances at taking on leadership roles, some groups excel at philanthropy, some are great at academics, but look past the outer reputation to see what is really there and what it has for you.
3. Find a group that s going in the direction you want to go. Each and every chapter is trying to better themselves, but I'd look for a group that is trying to be better than they were last year, and the year before that - not better than ABC chapter. No one wants to be in a group that is stagnant and happy just to continue on the way things were before - and I doubt that any groups are like that at UK - but ask about what the chapter is working on and how you would fit into their plan.
The best thing is to MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND. Don't base a decision on what someone else says.
