rush week - what happens
by: Worried MomMy daughter is rushing at UK and is from out of state ... doesn't know anyone at all. Her roommate is not rushing. What's involved with rush and will she be by herself with big chunks of time until rush is over and the people not rushing move in or is there a lot going on and lots of people around such that she won't be alone & homesick? She is social but not super outgoing at first ... kind of in the middle ... not shy but not outgoing

She will be with her gamma chi group for a lot of recruitment. She will also have time to make plenty of friends - while recruitment tends to be a busy and hectic time, it is also great for meeting people (moving in early helps too!).
Take it from someone who was in the exact same situation, she will do just fine!
Best of luck :)
#2by: recruitment
She'll be going to all of the houses with her gamma chi the first two days and those girls will all live in her dorm and when the day is over they'll hang out and get to know each other. The next days, although she'll be alone going to the houses, she'll have time and opportunities to meet people even if she is shy. When recruitment is over there are a few days before everyone moves in (I'm pretty sure it's a few) and by then she'll have people in the sorority to hang out with along with girls from her floor. Once her roommate moves in there's a week of activities the university provides before classes start where she can meet more people and spend time with her roommate and such. Hope this helped!
