can someone explain spring recruitment/ cob to me?

by: Holly

When filling out an application for COB, what happens next? Do sororities that are interested reach out to you? What kind of activities take place in spring recruitment or COB? Quick question, is it true sororities look over your social media before speaking with you? What kinds of things do sororities look for when looking at a PNM? Are any sororities more likely to give a bid than others, if so which ones?

Normally Panhellenic will host the first event with all the chapters that have to do spring cob. They will all set up a booth and you walk around and introduce chapters you’re interested in. Then from there if they like you this will extend and invite to their next event. Usually it’ll be like three to four events with the chapter before they extend a bid.

It is true sororities look at your social media espically for spring rush. Chapters with super low numbers like aopi, dz, and phi mu are more likely to give bids.

Please remember that a Spring/COB bid from any NPC group ought to be given serious consideration. Each sorority has individual and particular standards of membership that do not change whether their new member class is from Fall or Spring. The quality of pnms does not diminish just because the recruitment is COB/Informal/Spring.

If you participate in Spring recruitment you will take quality time to meet the women, they will cheerfully welcome you into their home and may bid you, therefore why not see if you truly fit-in where they believe you belong?

COB is performed to allow all homes their full chapter total membership number: e.g. when a home in Spring has 224 members and chapter total is 249 they may desire to bid up to 25 new members, allowing them full 249 chapter total number if all 25 became initiated.
