I was just curious as to how many girls each sorority tends to give a bid to, and if almost everyone gets a bid, regardless of it being their top choice or not?

All sororities on campus have a quota that they have to meet (a certain amount of members they have to take). I want to say last year's quota was around 90 but I'm not sure the exact number. If you're open to any house regardless of tiers, not getting a bid is almost impossible-given that you meet the gpa requirement to rush and all that

Quota is not a certain amount of new members a chapter has to take; it is the maximum number a chapter is allowed to take. You don't sound like you are an actual sorority member to get that concept so wrong...
@123 - a PNM who attends every party she is invited to, ranks each house afterward, and makes it all the way to pref round will get a bid at one of the houses she prefs.

lol quota is not the maximum a chapter can give so don't get snarky at someone else when you're wrong. almost every chapter gets quota additions because of PNMs who maximized the their options.

@sororitymember was right...if members don't accept their bids and a sorority drops below quota they have to participate in COB (continuous open bidding) no need to be rude when you're wrong!

Not being snarky or rude, and not at all wrong; y'all really don't seem to understand how it works. Quota and Quota Additions are not related, and COB is not about Quota either. Quota is the maximum number that all chapters are allowed to take. If there wasn't a limit, then stronger recruiting sororities could take many more of the PNM's each year, and weaker or newer chapters would be left with far fewer, so there is a maximum Quota, not a minimum, to keep it fair. When a house does not make Quota at Bid Matching they are allowed to Snap Bid before Bid Day. Quota Additions do not count as part of Quota. A house can take Quota Additions and still not make Quota. Quota Additions go to the smaller houses when at all possible to keep total house memberships on par with each other. Quota Additions exist not for the houses, but to ensure that potential members don't go without a bid when they have participated fully in attendance and rankings. This used to happen; girls would attend two prefs and still not get a bid even though they were on both houses' bid lists, so now there is Quota Addition to prevent that kind of mismatch. COB is an option for houses that did not make Quota and also for houses that are under total house membership. No house has to COB, it is a choice. Total house membership is also a maximum number, not a minimum, to keep it fair. All this information is correct and easily verifiable.

literally here is no such thing as quota additions if you don't make quota. you can't add to your quota if you don't even make quota. last year quota was 87. most chapters made it and a few didn't. Anychapter who had above 87 had quota additions. Chapter total is the median number of women each chapter has. It was like 260 or around there. Any chapter who has below that number can do COB. quota and median chapter total are literally completely different things. Not making quota doesn't make you eligible for COB just like making quota can still make you eligible for COB. Don't get in here and talk like you know everything when you clearly look like an idiot.

Quota Additions do not count as part of whether a chapter makes quota or not. Not making quota absolutely does make a chapter eligible to COB. Careful who you call an idiot.

The point is, if you rank the houses and put down ALL of the houses and give each house a chance, you should be guaranteed a bid. Make sure you rank your bottom houses too because you might not get some of your top houses (and that ok!!). As long as you do that you should be fine!
