I've been told that coming to Greek Rank as a PNM is a terrible idea, but I just have a question and I want an honest answer. I'm from Georgia, and I'm coming to Kentucky in the fall. To cut to the chase, I'm black. I'm the youngest of four. I have an older brother have two older sisters. My brother joined an NPC fraternity. One of my older sisters joined a NPC sorority. My other sister decided to go against the grain and join a Panhellenic sorority, and she loved it. I want to follow in her footsteps, but I'm not sure if I will be turned away or dropped after the first day of rush.
Please be honest with me here. I won't be offended. Will I be wasting my time if I decide to go forth with formal recruitment in the fall?

Do whichever you want! I don't think you should have a problem getting into one.
Don't let anything prevent you from doing what you want! I say go for it as long as it's what you want. Good luck!

You should go through recruitment if it's something you are interested in. Greek life here is welcoming to people from many different backgrounds. Panhellenic recruitment also takes place before NPC intake so if you find that recruitment isn't for you or Panhellenic isn't for you, you still have the option of joining an NPC organization.
