by: DudeGetting on here as an incoming freshman, I completely changed my mind about wanting to join Greek life. Y'all are so mean to other chapters, you can obviously tell that bad ratings are written out of jealousy or resentment. Why is it like that here....I was so excited to go Greek but now that's the last thing I want to do. I thought high school drama would be left in high school. Who knew college still had mean girls......I wish this school was more supportive of each other instead of constantly trying to tear the other chapter down. Y'all need to work on that.

That's why most of us pretend this site doesn't exist. I have never had anyone in real life treatment differently or been mean to me because of what sorority I am in. I personally only come on here to laugh at it. There are mean people everywhere, but in my experience as a sorority woman here, it has not been because of my chapter. Please reconsider going through recruitment, and do it for who you click with. Not what people on here say is the "good" chapter because they are all fabulous. Just be honest with yourself and pick the chapter that you feel is being genuine.

I agree 100% about what was said by the other 2 posters. While this site is awful for making it seem like all the chapters hate each other, the truth is, it's not even close to what being in a sorority at UK is like. There are nasty and superficial people you'll have to learn how to deal with your whole life. The friendships you will develop in a sorority will really last a lifetime. You will always have to deal with women who will do everything they can to make themselves feel better about their choices by trying to make other women feel like they are less than they are or somehow inferior. Sadly, you'd think that would get better/less frequent as women mature/get older but that doesn't seem to be the case. Those girls in high school that are just terrible often grow up to be terrible adult women. Unfortunately, this site seems to be some kind of mecca for them where they gather and puff themselves up by taking down others in the hopes that they will feel all warm and fuzzy about their lives.
Go through recruitment. If none of the groups 'speak' to you, then don't join. At least you'll be making the decision for yourself instead of some disgruntled person who doesn't have anything nice to say.

I go to a different school in ky, and I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. UK is a big school and is gonna have pettiness like this. I wish you're greek experience was good enough to go thru recruitment so you can see the great sisterhood and bonds sororities can provide. 😞

Well said "I'm sorry" very true....ALL chapters here are fabulous. And remember, it's much easier to hide behind the anonymity of this site to say hurtful things. I honestly feel like girls just come on here to get out their frustration sometimes, but it's not like that on campus. I'm so sorry that you feel this way, OP, and I hope you cabbage your mind about wating to go through recruitment :(
