What's Hot - Winthrop University - WU

Many of the girls are sweet and smart and kind, but the sorority as a whole has a reputation for partying a little too hard and putting out a little too much. This isn't helped with their main fundraiser--where they rock in rocking chairs around campus. That's it. They could be a lot better than they are, but getting rid of a reputation is very difficult.

Keeping in mind that they just restarted the chapter a year ago, they still have a long, long way to go. They pretty much accepted anyone last year, and that has caused a lot of tensions between sisters. And, unfortunately, it is often visible to those outside of the sorority as well. While there are many really cool girls that love their philanthropy, a lot of girls can feel superficial. If they can pull themselves together, they could be a really great sorority.

Not the most active sorority on campus, but a wonderful sisterhood. They are the "bookish" sorority, putting heavy emphasis on academics. It's such a diverse group of women, and they often have sisters that you wouldn't expect to be in a sorority. However, many of the girls were preffed by other "top" sororities such as ADPi and DZ, and chose Chi-O over them. So they aren't the top sorority rejects as the stereotype goes.

Ive been on Winthrops campus for a couple years now and would say these girls might have one or two bake sales out of the year.? I don't think that's too much as people make it out to be. And really, who doesn't like buying baked goods anyways? Plus it goes to their philanthropy, why discourage it? Also, not that many of them are "big" girls. They may have more bigger girls than other sororities, but they obviously choose girls for reasons other than looks. Theres nothing wrong with that.

They are re-establishing their sorority here on campus and are getting some top recruits this year. Their hard work is really paying dividends!

These girls did a lot last semester for their philanthropy including a Think Pink Week, yogurt eating contest, collecting pink yogurt lids for money, Race for the Cure and always participating in other sororities events. These girls work their butts off. Also, their new girls joined because of the strength of ZTA's sisterhood.

ZTA has the cute sorority stuff like the hand sign, pink ribbons, strawberries, and turquoise, but if you look beyond that there is not much there. Their sisterhood is crap. I'm constantly hearing them talk junk about each other and they're cliquey. Also, they did basically nothing for their philanthropy last semester. They CANCELED their main fundraiser because they couldn't get organized. Lastly, they've been spending lots of nights and mornings... Sad, but true.

ADPi is the one that pretty much everyone wants going into recruitment. The sisters that I know are generally wonderful people (there are only one or two that I don't like), but when you put all the sisters in a room together, you feel like you have to act/look a certain way to be acceptable. It's a bit frightening and overwhelming. They obviously love their philanthropy, and they do a lot of fundraising for it around campus.
