During informal recruitment you don't go to every house. Some sororities take a new member class. During recruitment it's 3 days. You go to every house first day, narrow it down. 2nd day you go back to like 5 houses. 3rd day (the weekend after) you go to pref round at two Soroties and you choose that night. Next day is bid day. Go through formal at least once because you can get a feel for all

Formal Recruitment every sorority participates. Its best to go through formal recruitment so you have an idea which sorority you feel you fit in to the best. (There's no pros and cons to each sorority, if you're looking to join a sorority based on reputation, I advise you not to go through recruitment. Yes, reputation is important, but its the connections you create in the sorority)

Informal Recruitment not every sorority participates in. The only sororities that participates in informal and actually extends bids to girls are the ones that did not meet quota in the Spring Semester. Quota is the number of girls they need to have in their sorority. Girls might have dropped the sorority or they did not take enough girls during the Spring, therefore they have to participate in Informal Recruitment.
