what's greek life at rutgers like?

by:

I'm an incoming freshman and I know it's not as big as it is in the south but how are the type of people in it? Are they the stereotypical preppy kids? Is there a Greek row?

This guy is a loser in the top 3. We have a decent fraternity life and there are about 16 fraternities that actively do things and only about 8 of them matter. And yes there are the preppy frat kids in all frats some more than others. But you'll have fun definetly check out more than 3 fraternities

It's kind of irrelevant in the big picture at Rutgers as you can still go out and party without being apart of one of the organizations. However, if you want all of the fundraising events and other activities Greek life offers then it might be for you. No real Frat row.

Don't listen to this geed. If you join one of the top houses your party life will 1000x better than every other guys. Greek life may be optional if ur a hot girl but if you want to party on another level as a dude then rush

I am from the south too, and am not involved in greek life, however I have tons of friends in it and I am still looking into it myself. Now I know fraternities are a little different, but overall I would say greek life is pretty solid at Rutgers. Some big southern fraternities may not be big up here, while some of the smaller ones are considered big; however they do have big names up here. Depending on what fraternity you visit, you'll find a variety of guys, from preppy to just chill. I would def recommend to start looking online, and keep and open mind when you come and visit all of them. Unlike down south, freshmen can't rush until spring, so I would recommend visiting as many as you can in the fall. And be ready to have a ratio of girls or $5's to get into a party. You'll love it here, Good luck!

Rutgers Greek Life is really diverse. There are a lot of different organizations to check out. You might love some and hate the others. It's all about finding the best fit for you. Ultimately, though, the Greek community does come together to help make a difference. It's not as big as it could be, but it's better than a lot of schools.
