What happened with gphi and that death
by: ?Can someone explain what happened when they said gphi killed someone

September 2018
Kid Cory from PiKap/Kappa Sig left a GPhi date night at Perle. Word is he was kicked out by bouncers. Kid decides to walk the few block back to campus. Tragically, he tripped at the curb at Albany Street and fell into oncoming traffic.
The haters on here are probably friends of his. They want to blame someone other then the kid who simply tripped, drunk by himself. They think the girl who invited him was supposed to find him a taxi or go with him to make sure he got home. Perle kicked a drunk patron out, who decided to walk home. That’s it. His date had no idea. GPhi had no idea. Silly to think you’d need a sign out sheet at a bar full of adults
There’s maybe a handful of senior GPhis who were new sisters at the time even left at Rutgers. It’s not stopping the bunch of haters who keep repeating this 2 1/2 years later. Lots of nice GPhi girls. Let’s have it haters-explain how “GPhi killed a kid”

Post sat here for over a day. Within minutes of an explanation and answer to the questions question a bunch of haters chime in with disgusting-sucks-bottom tier
No matter how hard you’re trying, for whatever your reasons, no one GAS. Hardly any GPhi girls even left from that time. Get over it. GPhi going to be fine. STFU with the BS rants about nothing
#9by: the real situation
during gphi’s date night at Perle Corey was told by security he needed to leave due to being extremely intoxicated.
proper protocol in this situation would have called for gphi’s sober monitors (not to mention his date) to ensure he got home safely. this was apparently required by ofsa rules as well as gphi’s internal rules.
instead of doing this, apparently the sober monitors either weren’t there at all or made no meaningful effort to help the situation and let Corey (who could barely stand up i’ve heard) walk out the door alone, left to fend for himself. then we he was tragically hit by a car as he stumbled into the street, attempting to find his way home.
imo it is very clear that gamma phi has a lot of culpability here. one would expect a punishment from ofsa, an apology from the sorority, and actions taken to ensure something like this never happened again. NONE of those things happened. gphi totally ignored the situation and apparently told girls not to talk about it. they refused to take any accountability and avoided anything that could force them to accept responsibility, like doing anything at all for Corey afterwards or attending his funeral.
it is not surprising that after this gphi has lost all respect. it showed their true colors as an organization. this combined with a general anti-social attitude (thinking they are better than everyone, reports of them telling their members that everyone is out to get them because they are in gphi and to trust no one) is why they have declined so much from where they used to be. i think this will haunt the organization until it has been kicked off campus, as it should have been after this incident.

I'm sure this happens a lot, but the decent thing would have been to have someone make sure he gets home safely. It's done all the time. I'm sure the girls never in a million years thought that would happen, but the fact is of it was their event, the decent thing to do is to have someone walk him home or get a car for him. I'm sure someone had the courtesy to do that for them when they overindulged, and we all have.
