OFSA gets too much hate

by: hi

OFSA's rules about parties and events are only meant to keep us safe, and I think they get too much hate about it

The rules about guest lists, the kind of food you have to provide, approved venues, transportation, and all those things are ANNOYING, don't get me wrong, but they're just trying to protect people from literally dying from alcohol poisoning (like, when that kid died after the gphi formal because his date left before him and he was walking home alone, OFSA changed the rules so that members couldn't leave formal without their dates)

every rule is a reaction to something that's gone wrong in the past, they're not just arbitrary

If you can’t see what the OFSA’s goal is, I can’t help you. Yes, they can place some rules, but those specific rules you mentioned aren’t the main problem. The OFSA and a specific Dean are trying to get IFC fraternities kicked off campus. She’s been trying for a while now, and she’s gonna go forward with it. And what happened to GPhi? They killed a kid, and then what? Did they get kicked off? No. If a fraternity did the same thing they’d be kicked off. The OFSA deserves all the hate it gets, and more.

Who is the specific dean??? Can we stop saying GPhi killed a kid. He was walking home and tripped into oncoming traffic. While tragic, it was his fault only and you are right that if a frat they’d be gone

Dean A is responsible for the attempts on Greek life. And yes, GPhi is responsible for the safety of their guests, and if one of them dies, the blame falls onto them.

A large part of it was the kid’s own fault for allowing so much alcohol in his system but it’s gphi’s fault as well since they were all supposed to stay with their dates. The rules dean and ofsa has set are not where the majority of the hate is being thrown. The point is that knowing a frat would’ve for sure gotten Kicked off if a death happened on their watch is the blatant hypocrisy by ofsa and Dean A and shows their agenda of favoring sororities and ending fraternities. That’s 95% why they’re getting the hate

I feel like if it was the EXACT same circumstances, a frat wouldn’t have gotten consequences either. It was a registered event, gphi followed all the rules in place at the time, so they didn’t get punished. But if a frat had an unregistered party and someone died because of that then yeah obviously it would be on them? Plus nobody so far has mentioned that OFSA doesn’t even have the power to kick groups off campus or suspend them - it’s the office of student conduct. These posts read like conspiracy theories honestly, the idea that a group of adult staff members is plotting against a bunch of college kids is laughable.

She is targeting IFC fraternities and it’s out in the clear. There are movements across the nation that seek to “abolish” Greek Life and her actions always fuel such a sentiment. There’s no “conspiracy” theory about this. And no, GPhi is still responsible for it. It is up to them to take care of their guests.

Yeah everythings a conspiracy theory. Everyone in positions of authority and power always tell the truth! They would never lie to the people. It doesnt make any sense why would they ever want to keep information from the poeple. For more money and power? Of course not! Literally nobody cares about having more money and power. Life is great! Everything is a beautiful rainbow!\n\n\n\n\nLmao too many people were dropped as babies
