Some guys said the plan was to hold virtual rush and wait to extend a bid until next semester. It’s just to gauge interest, not to give out bids. Giving out bids based on online interaction is retarded.

Realistically no top tier frat will do a fully online rush, to give a kid a bid you haven’t met in person is ridiculous.

True but I guess the person is asking in general. It would be a stupid idea to do virtual rush, but some frats might actually do it.

Tbh virtual rush could be as simple as filling out a form and getting your name out there, realistically frats that don’t necessarily worry about numbers (as they know they recruit well) when recruiting won’t give bids unless there’s an in person interview which is pretty standard across the board

They could just do it to see who’s interested, not really a formal rush or any pledging. There’s no way for a rush or a frat to know if the person is fit to join just through online events.

Theoretically would it not be possible to just hold rush on zoom but not give out bids until the Spring?

I could see interviews being conducted online, but for the rushes that’d be a pretty horrible option. Rush is meant for kids to get to know brothers to see if they’d fit in. If I was a freshman I wouldn’t accept a bid anywhere that’s only ever been online. For sophomores or kids who may know where they wanna pledge it’s different

That’s the most likely case scenario. The only problem is, since the class is going graduate this year, most fraternities are going to be losing men disproportionately, and that may do damage to some of them. If that’s the case, then they might have to shift at least one part of it online. Maybe interviews or something, but they still shouldn’t initiate or give out bids until next spring, if we don’t come back.
