Here is the truth about sorority recruitment.

by:

I’m just gonna give you an honest explanation of what to expect with first few rounds of cuts
Kappa and Chi O: if you don’t have a connection/legacy in these houses you have about a .2 chance of getting in...they like to act like you have a chance but you don’t so don’t be offended when you have a great convo and then get cut first round

Theta: very similar but maybe a bit less picky. Maybe a .25 chance to get in without connections but their cuts are very harsh too

Pretty much every other house will cut first rounds based off of GPA/social media etc but from there on out they decide based off of genuine conversations

I’m not trying to scare anyone but I remember being so upset when I got cut from the three top houses first round when I thought I had such amazing conversations, the reality is you may have had a great convo but you’re cut before you even step foot in the house. But I ended up in a house where I have met my best friends and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Weirdly, I ended up getting cut by mid-tier strats. I had kappa, Chi o, and phi Mu left. To this day, not sure why. I was a legacy to one of those top two houses, so maybe other strats didn’t want to waste time on me? Still stings to this day.

Think this will be better or worse with virtual recruitment? My favs (so far) are XO, Kappa, and Tri Delt (based on IG andcrrputation), but if I’m already out on two of the three, that sucks.

Hate to say it, but You will likely be cut by Kappa and Chi O first....And it really does suck. But, keep an open mind and remember this strat stuff is only a small component of WM life, and all houses are fun,

Remember, do not go into recruitment having favorites especially if you haven’t met any of the girls yet. My big regret is not going for a lower tier sorority that really wanted me. Now I’m stuck in a higher tier sorority and while they’re still nice girls, I feel like an outsider

This!! I didn't have this same experience but I almost preffed a "higher tier" srat on pref night solely bc they're "higher tier" and I'm really glad I didn't. Really amazing girls in both houses ofc but I'm a lot happier in my srat than I think I would be in the other. Also almost dropped out of recruitment entirely after being dropped by a different srat before pref night but at the end of the day you can only go back to 2 houses so like yeah. Try not to get too attached, keep an open mind etc.!! V important!!

I don’t necessarily think this is true. I didn’t end up in chi o or another “top house” but I went through sisterhood round with chi o and ended up with tri delt and another mid tier house for pref. It’s honestly mostly about your interactions and connections, and comes down to how many spots they have to fill

Turns out this post was right on point. I was prepared, but really hoped it was an exaggeration. Time to get up, dust off, and move on. Really bummed.

Try not to get down on yourself! At the end of the day, you only will have one house you get a bid from. You will be loved so much by the house that’s lucky enough to have you :)

Thank you, “Hi.” You have no idea how much I needed that little pep talk.

Dear “Well,”

You have a great attitude about getting back in the saddle again and I second what “hi” said! Sometimes the universe does you a favor and you end up dodging a bullet that you didn’t even know you needed to miss! Trust me, a ton of girls in hindsight say, “thank goodness that didn’t work out for me, there is no way I’d be happy in that house!”

Love the house that loves you back and you will have lifelong friends and create wonderful memories.

Good luck and have fun with the process - you will be welcomed with open arms!!! : )

I didn’t realize that the sorority cut people. I thought you joined where you best fit in. I’m I unnderstansing this right? Before I sign up, can someone explain how this can be? Seems so cruel. Why not let girls join sorority they like best?
