I’m just gonna give you an honest explanation of what to expect with first few rounds of cuts
Kappa and Chi O: if you don’t have a connection/legacy in these houses you have about a .2 chance of getting in...they like to act like you have a chance but you don’t so don’t be offended when you have a great convo and then get cut first round
Theta: very similar but maybe a bit less picky. Maybe a .25 chance to get in without connections but their cuts are very harsh too
Pretty much every other house will cut first rounds based off of GPA/social media etc but from there on out they decide based off of genuine conversations
I’m not trying to scare anyone but I remember being so upset when I got cut from the three top houses first round when I thought I had such amazing conversations, the reality is you may have had a great convo but you’re cut before you even step foot in the house. But I ended up in a house where I have met my best friends and I wouldn’t want it any other way!

While the post is accurate. You’ll likely get cut first by XO, KKG, and maybe KAT, it DOES NOT MATTER. You’ll see when you get on campus. There is soooooo much more to being at WM than sorority affiliation. And nobody (who isn’t a weird one) cares one bit. We are all one TRIBE.

At the beg of each round they give you a slip back with the houses you're going to and you're not obligated to tell anyone where you're going / how many houses. The only people that may figure it out is the others in your recruitment group (usually hallmates if you're a freshman).
I thankfully got asked back to the max number of houses all the rounds but many other people in my hall didn't. No one made fun of them, and everyone understanding it's is a hard process and most people respect others boundaries. It happens to way more people than you think.

Thanks for having the courage to post this. I remember having only five houses after FiRST round. I kept thinking...why did over half the houses cut me...they don’t even know me. I didn’t realize all the quota stuff and that some houses have fewer openings, etc. it’s a really bad way to start freshman year. But, I LoVE my house. It all worked out.

It sounds superficial but unfortunately a lot of initial impressions can be pretty superficial. I agree it doesn't hurt to present yourself in the best light and these are actually v helpful tips that a lot of girls will already be doing

I actually agree with this bc the video is one of the only things every single girl will see about u this semester, so if you're serious about joining a srat make it one you're proud of... especially when the decision may come down to just your video and two or three short zoom convos this year

This is just simply inaccurate. Yes, it is harder to stay in these houses after the first round (and you are going to have the best conversations in these houses bc these girls are PERSONABLE and outgoing!!!), but at least my org does not look at PNMs social media, and its literally impossible to have "connections" before recruitment since we start so early in the semester! Don't get discouraged by ppl w bad experiences, ladiez.

It is possible to have connections if you’re rushing as a sophomore. In fact, we have two girls who were promoted by a strong leader in our strat who absolutely would not be in our house without someone on the inside working for them. Although they are not typical for our strat, they have been great members that we would have missed out on getting to know without someone advocating for them from the inside. I get there are similar stories in every strat, not just ours.

Well I guess I am lame because I am on this site trying to understand why I got cut. It sucks. It hurts. No I am left between two sororities that’s people say are thots and potheads. I’m so discouraged.
