Personalities of Sororities

by: curious

Hi, incoming freshman hoping to rush in the fall, what’re the general personalities of the sororities? Thanks!

Generally, Kap Sig, Sig Chi, Chi O, and Kappa are thought of as the “top tier,” but mostly because they’ve been around a while and are bigger nationally. Each house has good people and jerks. But, in the end it’s W&M, which means eccentric, interesting, smart, confident people of all stripes in all house. Relax and enjoy the process. You will find your vibe if you want one, or not and it is still cool to not be Greek.

Ok kappa is above chio for sure. I don’t think they’re quite comparable... Also it youre going off time and how big they are nationally tridelt would be up there so that’s not really accurate

Kappa and Chi O aren’t better or not better, just very different vibes. Kappa pretty and rich. Chi O pretty and sporty. But, both houses are are considered top and have their picks of top frats.

Tri Delt and Pi Phi are also coming on the scene in a strong way, and got some top HOCO invites. Sig Chi is going with Pi Phi (and they are considered one of the top two frats).

KKG- rich and pretty, known to be petty but the coolest sorority at WM
XO- top tier but in a DGAF way, love to party, give off stoner vibes and coming off a suspension
KAT- definitely the prettiest sorority but have kind of a mean reputation. Have a strong sisterhood but not as friendly with other sororities
DDD- Not as big into partying as XO but very cool and VERY diverse. Big into philanthropy in kind of an intense way.
Pi Phi- also stoner vibes in an artsy way. Really cool girls and have a great sisterhood.
KD- very into academics and not as much social. Lot of philanthropy as well.
Gamma phi- have some fun philanthropy. Best way to describe them would be wholesome lol.
DG- a very mixed bag of personalities which is nice. See a lot of them wearing letters around campus which is super cool.
Alpha chi- more reserved girls who otherwise would not have joined a sorority at a school like UVA or VT. Strong sisterhood!
Phi mu- a really cool group of girls who all seem to really care about each other. They don’t seem judgmental at all Which is good going into recruitment

In Greek alphabetical order:

Alpha Chi Omega- half these girls party hard and the other half have never been to a party. I don’t know how this dynamic works for them but it does.

Gamma Phi Beta- Overall nice girls. Still party from time to time. They are super supportive of each other. Girl next door vibes.

Delta Gamma- I’ve only met 2 DGs so I can’t really give a good description. They were nice though

Delta Delta Delta- they pretty much only party with KDR so the only tri delts I’ve met have been at KDR parties. The girls I’ve met are friendly and are super passionate about their philanthropy.

Kappa Alpha Theta- Honestly I don’t know why they always try to put other sororities down on the internet. Not all thetas act like that but it’s unfortunate that the few crazy ones gave the entire sorority a bad rep.

Kappa Delta- These girls are work hard, play hard. Academically talented but love to have fun. Also have the best spring philanthropy event.

Kappa Kappa Gamma- I thought they would all be blonde and skinny bc of their stereotype but that’s not true at all. They don’t fight online as much as theta does.

Pi Beta Phi- Hippie vibes. All the girls I’ve met are nice and are the type to smile at you in the hall.

Phi Mu- is considered the lowest tier sorority but in reality, these girls rock. Love their philanthropy events but they’re not very visible on campus otherwise.

Chi Omega- They were suspended for hazing and I’m honestly surprised they weren’t removed from campus. They party hard for sure.\n\n\n\n\n

Only in your mind, Theta.

Seriously. During my first recruitment, I got cut by Chi O, Kappa, and Tri Delt, which were all my top picks. I dropped out and tried again the next year. It worked out better the next year. But, at least for me, I was willing to wait a year rather than pledge Theta because something was just off with the vibe. Fake AF. For what it’s worth.
