joining a sorority your last semester
by: americaloverI transferred here and my last school didn’t have Greek life but it’s always been something I wanted to be a part of. I had planned to go through recruitment in the fall but just figured out that I’ll be graduating at the end of fall semester, earlier than I had expected. I guess I’m asking if I should still go through recruitment, even though I’ll only have a semester (or if anyone would even take me). Thanks fam 🙃

really doubt it. sororities need to keep membership up with dues/committees, and tend to need a year of commitment for financial reasons. these are national organizations that need funding, after all. I mean unless you're doing grad school here and maybe you can work something out with the individual charter, but you're probably out of luck.

Do. It. I rushed as a senior and my best friend rushed with only one semester left and while neither of us had the typical experience (a little harder to get involved) it was still an awesome awesome decision and one of my favorite things to be a part of in college & still a very cool connection as an alum. I know we were both so nervous going through & the “um like why are you rushing” question came up so much but honestly everyone I met was really welcoming and understanding in a way I never expected. Recruitment was a legitimately empowering and affirming experience (crazy I know). You’ll find a chapter who likes you for you, and doesn’t care about anything else, that’s the kind of place wm is. If this is what you have always wanted, go for it. You won’t get the chance again!
