For all those looking to join a sorority or fraternity, please don't reguard any of the posts or petty "ranks" completely based on looks that you read on here. Don't join any organization just because they are considered better than others. Yes, sororities and fraternities are considered "top/middle/bottom" tier, but that fact should NOT influence your decision at all. No sorority or fraternity is better than another just because they have better looking and/or more wealthy members. Every sorority and fraternity is great, it just all depends on who you are as a person. I'm in my 2nd year in what this university considers a "middle tier" sorority, and I'm having the time of my life. I am not a "top tier", an Alpha Phi, or a Zeta. I don't belong there any more than I would with a "bottom teir" sorority here, NOT because of their "rank", but just because of who I am. I belonged with the girls in my sorority, I felt at home so that's where I wanted to be.

I've seen and met and know just as many miserable girls in "top tier" sororities as "bottom tier" sororities. When you choose where you go based on "rank" and not how you feel with those people and how much you connect with what they stand for and their philanthropy, you're setting yourself up to be unhappy.

Please girls and guys alike, just find where you fit in, find where you love and where you feel at home with the people around you. When you're where you belong, rank doesn't matter. What matters is that you'll be happy.

Sorry you didn't get a bid to one of the "pretty" sororities. Freshmen reading this take note that top tier fraternities only want to socialize with top tier sororities. You may as well be a GDI if you aren't in Aphi, ZTA, DZ, AST, or AxiD

This is the most childish, immature comment I've ever read. You are an idiot, and you obviously are not an adult if you think like this. The world doesn't work that way, the world doesn't care what tier sorority you were in in college. You don't deserve to be in a sorority or fraternity, you take ideals of what they stand for and push them aside. You are a worthless addition to whichever one you're in.

Lol "An adult" is in one of the lower tier sororities. You're right, what sorority/fraternity you were in will not matter after college. You obviously bring that up to feel better about being in your lower tier sorority. DURING college, it makes a huge difference. Somebody in ZTA or Aphi will have a totally different experience than somebody in Phi Mu. You are completely delusional if you are going to try and argue that.

This is literally the truest thing I have ever read. You really do need to go through and find the place you feel the most at home. Two years ago I went through recruitment and fell in love with a sorority just because they were pretty. After I received a bid I realized that while they were kind to me I didn't really fit in and ended up dropping. Now I am a part of a sorority that I really feel at home with. Don't go through recruitment just based on looks or who frats want to party with. I made that mistake and its not worth it. Go through and find the girls that you connect with and can see yourself being friends with it is so much more rewarding. THANK YOU, PLEASE READ!

Agreed! Coming from someone in one of the "top 4" sororities (we all know who those are) it is important to go where you feel the most comfortable. There are PLENTY of pretty girls who come through in recruitment and we vote DOWN because they seem stuck up and only care about how WE look. Think of how all your friends from home will view you when you join a sorority that looks like plastic barbie dolls and that's not who you are. Totally embarrassing...
