rush conversations
by: ???I know it' s early, but as a girl from the south, my friends are already talking non stop about sorority rush. I'm planning on rushing in the spring I just want some clarity on what to talk about during rush. I see all these things saying "be yourself" and "just relax" but I'm also confused by all the so called "rules" of what you can talk about during recruitment. There's a line between being too vanilla and boring and letting your "freak flag fly." I guess what I'm asking is how do you make an impression/be memorable without coming on too strong?

So I am from the south too so I know where you are coming from and I can talk from being on both sides of recruitment. When I was going through rush the conversations I remember were the really corky ones (i.e. we talked about cheese for awhile). Being on the other side, the conversations I really remember were the ones when girls would talk about/tell stories of something they were really passionate about or just had a funny story in general. You are going to be asked a lot of the same boring questions like where are you from? What's your major? So if you have any fun, corky questions that you like to ask, those are always appreciated! But in all honesty being yourself is the best advice I can give you and you can usually read the person to know how strong you should let your freak flag fly. Pretend that the person is a friend and try to have a conversation. I hope this helps!
