alpha phi

I'm reading a lot about Alpha Phi doing "illegal" things during/before rush...just curious can anyone elaborate what they exactly do to gain an unfair advantage?

I didn't click with alpha phi during rush, but I've met several since through class & extracurriculars that are genuinely wonderful people. Every sorority has 200+ members, and is gonna have some great and some terrible people guaranteed

this isn't about the people in the chapter. some of the best people on this campus are in alpha phi.........and some of the worst. but that's beside the point here.

what is the point is that unlike (most) other chapters who play by the rules and ppc before and during recruitment, alpha phi encourages its members to dirty rush freshmen by extending them oral bids from the beginning of first semester through the actual days of recruitment (omg you're so cute, you're totally going to be in alpha phi!), texting/calling them, running into them "accidentally" on campus to chat about things are going during the weekends of recruitment. it's so annoying to other chapters who respect the process and the women going through recruitment who may lose out on people who don't give them a fair chance because they're too distracted by what alpha phi is doing. especially since alpha phi even can't bid all the girls they're doing this to if every girl in the chapter is doing this to even just 1 freshmen.

"pnms" up there got it right. it's all about respect. if you respect yourself and respect the process, you should trust yourself and the chapters to allow you to find your home the right way, by meeting other sorority women naturally and then by going through recruitment without any outside pressure during the actual rounds.

okay honestly every chapter here at WashU has dirty rushed from one point to another. It happens every year, just Alpha Phi was blatantly obvious about it 2 years ago.... so pointing fingers at one chapter is one thing if they were the only ones to do something wrong, but when all the other chapters use that to continue doing what they do on the side? I'm not saying any of the chapters use dirty rush tactics, but rush is a competitive process and saying hi to a girl the first week of school or being friendly to a girl isnt exactly dirty rushing and if so, every chapter at washu is guilty of something. rush is competitive and chapters all get kind of crazy during the process. either way, everyone will end up in the house that they're supposed to by the end of it. this isn't really something other chapters should use as a scapegoat if a girl they wanted doesnt return. it's easy to point fingers at someone else

Alpha phi there is no need for you to defend the actions of your sorority when everyone knows they are fact. Additionally, it seems as though you are deflecting your chapters bad character onto all of the other sororities who actually follow the rules and maintain the integrity of the sororities (excluding aphi) at wash u
