alpha phi

all of this happened to my best friend. she got an oral bid from alpha phi and then was soo upset on bid day when she found out she got a bid to another chapter. it took her a while, but after she saw who was in alpha phi's pc that year and what they were like outside of recruitment, she realized she was definitely in the right place. now she's super inovlved in her chapter and couldn't be happier to not be an alpha phi.

this year girls were caught hiding in the bathrooms before parties so they could "bump into" pnms. come on, alpha phi, how desperate do you have to be?

It's not just Alpha Phi, negative Kappa ratings always disappear too.

Alpha Phi can't even write a fake post without making sure it's all about them...nice try. Pi Phi and Kappa might not have had their best pledge classes, but neither of them sucked. Don't let one year get to your head...didn't you come in fifth last year?

this. some of the best girls in our chapter were heavily dirty rushed by alpha phi and managed to see through it, and they are so happy now that they didn't buy into the ruse. besides, alpha phi has managed to alienate almost every other sorority on campus and it's only a matter of time until panhel comes down hard on them. who wants to join a ticking time bomb?

because alpha phi inevitably extends dirty rushing in the fall to full-on rush infractions in january, e.g. calling/texting pnms, hosting secret meet-ups, false oral bids. and you can't compare it to fraternity rush - guys are allowed, even encouraged, to "dirty rush" (by the sorority definition of the term) because rushees have to select which houses they're rushing at all. sororities, on the other hand, are supposed to be acting under the rules of ppc.

Sororities are fed up with Alpha Phi for dirty rushing, but what it really comes down to isn't that they illegally contact PNMs or give oral bids; it's that girls fall for it year after year based on the lies they've been fed. Sure, APhi has a handful of amazing individuals and really close friend groups, but otherwise they are easily the worst, most shallow "sisterhood" on campus with some of the meanest, fakest girls. Of the half dozen friends I have in that sorority, most of them don't speak to each other because of their respective cliques within the chapter, and all but two of them have thought about deactivating because of all the cheating, backstabbing, and lying during rush.

Definitely happened to my now-best friend. They oral bid her the day before prefs when we rushed and then she didn't get invited to prefs and was devastated. Luckily she ended up going to her other prefs parties and we ended up in a chapter we both love. She hates seing other girls fall for the same tricks but it's going to keep happening until people start seeing through APhi's dirty rush tactics.

Is that why people don't like them then? My friends in the sorority (the same ones who promised me a bid if I rank them first every day) told me people are just jealous and threatened because Alpha Phi does the best every year, but if this is all true does that mean Alpha Phi is actually not popular/well-liked?

People really like a lot of the girls as individuals, but dislike the chapter and how they act during recruitment. All the other chapters work hard during recruitment to get PCs with integrity, but APhi always resorts to dirty rushing and oral bidding girls they think they'll lose to other chapters. And then what the end up with is a group of girls who don't entirely mesh and form cliques as soon as they enter the chapter. I do have a few friends in APhi at this point, but most of them have said they've been miserable at one point or another and thought about deactivating. One close friend is pretty honest that she only stays in for pledge family because they keep her sane.

and neither the panhel recruitment or gamma chi people are alpha phi this year, so you don't have to worry about them tipping the girls off

I doubt she will, but if she did she would seriously be the hero of sorority life as "do it" said. Alpha Phi has been dirty rushing for way too long without getting results, and now that it finally paid off for one year they're going to think that they can do it all the time and be the best (although that means they'll probably have to hire a rush coach every year too).
