How big will greek life be this semester?

I got dropped a few rounds into rush and all of my friends got bids. I know it’s the first weekend after bid acceptance so everyone is very excited and cliquey, but how long will this excitement last? Will there be mixers and pregames every weekend this semester? I can’t decide if I should COB to a sorority none of my friends are in just to be part of greek life or if I should try again next year.

Yes, there will be events every weekend and very often during the week.

You can definitely wait a year if you didn’t get in a sorority you like, but I wouldn’t be too worried about not being in one your friends are in. I promise that you will make friends

Also, please know that the 4 top sororities (except aphi) had very limited quotas and were not allowed to take more girls in order to be fair to the other chapters. It does not say anything about you or your worth if you did not get where you wanted.

you should def try to COB! worst case is you can drop and re-rush next year

you can drop and COB a diff sorority only if you drop before initiation - otherwise you can't rush a diff one

these groups are designed to be exclusionary! if you go through rush and realize it's not the place for you, you should try finding community in all the other and much healthier communities on campus <3

Calm your mind by focusing on your schoolwork this semester, and waiting until next year to re-recruit.

Blessing in disguise that you got dropped, you dont wanna be involved with this toxic bs. There are real groups worth spending your time in that don't cost so much, don't have the same connotation, and actually have members that aren't squares like all of these fraternity heads.

Way to generalize an entire group of people. This is WashU, not bama. Maybe if you got to know these people instead of just assuming their entire existence based off one personality trait, you would have a different opinion. These guys are brothers, sons, POC, hard workers, future doctors, athletes, caring friends, boyfriends, volunteers, scholars, etc. Sure, some of them suck, but overall, they’re nice dudes. Embarrassing and sad you spend your free time trolling Greek anonymous forums when you aren’t even apart of the community. Go get a life.
