WashU metoo alienates survivors in Greek life

by: Disappointed

If you’re reading this, I want you to know that tying the vigil with the protest against Greek life as a whole was a really crappy move. It alienated all the survivors in Greek life who would have liked to feel validated in our stories as well.

As a survivor in Greek Life this is exactly what I was thinking. I was fully planning to go to the vigil but did not feel like I would be safe as a member of Greek Life. We do need to hold members of Greek Life who commit SA accountable but alienating survivors in the community is not the way to do it.

If you’re in Greek life, you are someone in power who knows and doesn’t do anything, even if you’re a victim.

@nah that’s literally like saying survivors who don’t go to the police are not using their “power” to save future victims. It’s such a BS thing to say that victims have a responsibility to future victims, stfu.

I went to the vigil and Greek life wasn’t mentioned. I think the organizers did a good job of keeping the vigil apolitical, but that’s my opinion.

If this was the case then I am very glad they were able to separate the two. The vigil was advertised as being joint so I was scared to even attend/submit my story. Sending healing <3.

^ same. I wanted to go but didn’t feel like I’d be welcome. Glad they separated them, but they were advertised as one in the same

Greek life wasn’t mentioned? Then why did the protest go to frat row and knock on house doors and yell to any person they saw leave a house? Get real here, don’t lie to yourself
