Still Waiting Washu

by: mental health

Tw suicide. I submitted a post to “still waiting waiting washu” and I think they haven’t posted it because I mentioned Greek Life positively. The submission was not about greek life. It was about washu CARES and how they don’t actually care about students and only exist to protect the university. They made my life at washu much harder and punished me for trying to kill myself. I just briefly mentioned how my sorority helped me after that, and now it isn’t being posted. They could have stated that they don’t support Greek Life and still posted my experience. But instead they chose to suppress me from sharing a painful experience about mental health at washu so they could support the AGL narrative.

I don't think it's an accident that they just posted it ten minutes ago.

Hi Mental Health,

I am a student who works on the @stillwaiting_washu account and want you to know that your story graphic was created and saved days ago in preparation for posting today. Still Waiting has only one objective: demanding better mental health resources for students like you. We appreciate you sharing your story, and want you to know that we would never censor anybody’s experiences. We are horrified by your experience with WashU Cares and are committed to holding them responsible.

Please reach out to our Instagram account if you’d like to speak more, or if there are additional ways we can support you.

I apologize for assuming and putting you on blast. I was really upset when I saw that my submission wasn't posted but there had been a request for more submissions and that the account posted the "whyidropped" page in their story. The story on "whyidropped" made me think that an ulterior motive was the reason behind why my story hadn't been posted. I was so upset because it had taken a lot for me to share. Im sorry.

@i apologize: Please don't apologize! You are valid and we appreciate the courage and bravery it took for you to share such a difficult experience with us. We just want to make it clear that you are welcomed as part of our movement because we all want better mental health services, and hold WashU Cares accountable. (It's why as somebody who has never been on this site, I'm responding to your posts.)

Please let us know if our content makes you uncomfortable or inaccurately reflects your experiences, and we will fix that as quickly as possible. We believe you, we hear you, and we care about you.
