What sororities are still recruiting this year?

by:

I am most likely going to rush this semester. What sororities are still active and which are not?

All but Pi Phi are still active but a few other tried to disband last semester and were unsuccessful. AOPi isn’t rushing this semester from what I have heard. Most sororities lost a ton of girls last summer but someone on here wrote that AEPhi and Gphi retained the most members.

all but pi phi and aopi (which have both withdrawn their charters) are rushing and wpa has changed up the rushing process. look at their instagram for more info. but most chapters only have between 5-30 active members remaining, mostly from the most recent pc and the oldest.

Technically all of them except pi phi and aopi who withdrew their charters. But if you care about social justice AT ALL you shouldn't rush KD or ChiO.

All the sororities are responding aggressively to the call for inclusion and change by its members. Those members that have stayed in their chapters have stayed because they want to be part of the change. They represent the very definition of "SOCIAL JUSTICE" and should be applauded for staying to make a difference for all women now and in the future.

I can speak to Chi O:

Last Spring Chi Omega National commissioned "The Special Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion". The committee hired a renowned DEI consultant to provide guidance to the committee. The committee is focusing on several areas of improvement to enhance current recruitment practices to improve accessibility and equity so that women from all walks of life who live and reflect Chi O values can join Chi Omega and feel welcome and at home. Each chapter has also created a DEI Chair to work at the local level. The work of the national/local DEI is ongoing and many changes are already in the process of being rolled out Nationally. To name a few...

-PNMs will be able to request Recruitment Introduction Forms on the national website and submit their own resumes.

-Active members will be able to submit letters of Introduction for PNMs.

-For decades Chi O has given local chapters autonomy on how they want to handle legacies. Going forward, National will only ask chapters to invite legacies back after the chapters have invited those that are the best fit for the chapter and only if they have room on their invite list.

-Member definition has been expanded to include females and individuals that identify as women.

-All recruitment mechanics are getting reviewed to ensure they are inclusive.

-DEI training and resources are getting created and will roll out to all chapter leaders, members and host institutions.

-National is providing guidance to chapters about ways to cut costs.

-Through Chi O's Sisters Helping Sisters initiative National has funded a foundation with a $500k endowment and created a National Scholarship Fund for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES paid directly to members to free up personal resources so members can pay dues and stay in Chi Omega. (IRS doesn't allow 501c3 tax exempt organizations to give scholarships for dues.)

@pjw my sorority already had pretty much every single one of these “changes” for YEARS and i can tell you none of them make a significant difference whatsoever. it’s an attempt to manage concerns, not actually address them.
