Student union and abolition

by: Why

Why is student union so focused on abolishing Greek life? Personally I have had a great experience and it is the most important washu-affiliated organization to me personally by far. I assume I am not alone in my experience, and this begs the question to me, why does student union want so badly to take this away. The abolitionists speak broadly and of vague “harms” unique to frats, and somehow come to the conclusion that abolishing Greek life will change something. The simple fact is that bad people are not going to stop existing just because “Greek life” doesn’t exist. At the end of the day you have the exact same people in the same small campus area. Nothing would change, except campus social life would be even more stale.

So my question to student life I guess is, why are you obsessed with taking Greek life away, why don’t you focus on doing something other than tearing things down because it’s trendy and makes you seem woke and “progressive”.

Not only that, but the fact that the Student Union Senate which is supposed to represent all students have made a “political” stance against 1/3 of their electorate is really messed up.

Who deleted the comment about racism/classicm being political, but also another comment in support of reform/against abolition? It was posted only an hour ago!
