What about nationals?

Honest question, can we comment/consolidate what nationals are doing from a DEI standpoint?
I know this conversation is larger than just WashU and I feel like my sorority/my roommates’ sororities have been pretty good at responding to us and supporting larger changes in the sorority as a whole so just hoping maybe we can have this info in one place?

I’m in one of those sororities and we’ve definitely had to fight to get drop legacies that didn’t fit our chapter and/or we had legitimate concerns about. There may not be a ton of them at a school like WashU but if they’re taking up spots on a party list because we have to keep them, it’s likely they’re a relatively wealthy white woman instead of someone from a less privileged background who could be an awesome addition to our chapter. Not saying that all legacies are bad people but it’s the same reason getting rid of legacy policies for schools puts applicants on even footing.

Even footing? The college example is a good comparison. Even schools without strong legacy consideration like MIT still favor wealthy white students from private schools. Greek life favors rushees from washu feeder schools and cities. Have you ever talked to someone from westchester? Lmao they would not be getting into pi phi if they were from Nebraska
