well it's important to note that they don't get a space because they still aren't an actual fraternity on wash u's campus.
they generally get a bad rep around the greek community because they're perceived as being hostile to the fraternities and arrogant. if you don't think that's true, just read the page-long advertisement they took out for themselves in studlife this fall (what's wrong with wash u's fraternities?). i don't care if the guy who wrote that got punished. all he did was say what we all know a lot of those guys were thinking anyway.
the greek community is always going to be a little bit hostile to newcomers. it's natural since more chapters means more people to compete with during rush. but the way these dudes have conducted themselves over the past few months makes it glaringly obvious that they are in no way ready to really become a true chapter here. when you expand as a new chapter onto campus, you're signaling to the rest of the school that you think something is lacking in the existing greek community and that you can provide it. if you can't then you just look like a bunch of douchebags.
if you're an adphi yourself, i'm sorry and i know this really isn't what you want to hear but it's the truth.

Couldn't agree more. They have managed to make the wrong decision at every major step. First they alienated the very greek community they are attempting to join with the OpEd, then they alienated the administration when they got caught hazing their very first pledge class.
In reality, I think that they are just a bunch of rejects who decided to start their own chapter, and subsequently decided to justify their move by claiming that the greek system is broken.
