Not sure about sororitys, but for fraternity recruitment I think they gauge on how you carry yourself during an event. Who you talk to, why you want to be greek,etc. just be yourself and they will see how you fit in, and you will see if you feel comfortable fitting in.
Look at recruitment as a two way process.

A lot of factors go into how sororities choose girls. Grades, personality, leadership skills, etc. I know this seems cliche, but it's really important to be yourself because the girls you talk to are looking to see if you'll fit in with them and get along with girls in the house. If you present yourself as something you're not then you'll end up in a house with girls you don't relate to and probably won't like, and then that just sucks for everyone.
