average sorority dues

by: pnm

I know they have it on the WSU website, but honestly, including event costs and costs of shirts and other things they don't include when they put the prices, what are the average sorority dues?

Too much for you if you have to ask. Worrying about dues is NS.

Sorry my mommy and daddy are paying for my entire college education and want me to pay for something that was my choice.

Judging people for having their priorities sorted Is NS.

You have the right to ask! Parents will ask their kids and how disrespectful if you don't try to get an answer. My parents are both lawyers and they wanted to know. Some people are so rude.

You do have a right, you need to contact the houses you are interested in and ask, I don't know all the amounts but I do know some houses are double of other houses and it's sad when someone has to drop because it is so expensive.

APhi and DG is most expensive and then I've been told Theta and Kappa but not sure! I have a friend in APhi and she said girls had to drop and even her being worried about paying. Her parents are upset and she is wondering what will happen next year! I do know girls in some of the less expensive houses and they even have people drop because it's still expensive!, but some houses are double the amount! Besides paying dues you also must buy shirts and gifts and other things throughout the year.

Higher houses are about $4,000 for a Freshman and about $8,000 when you move into the house.

Low cost houses will be about $2,000 for a Freshman and then about $5,000 the next year.

So some houses are double the cost..... Some houses are nicer but all houses have great girls in them and all houses have fun and love being in their sorority. Being on Greek Row is fun for all no matter what house you live in. Some are just more expensive. I'm in a middle house and from what I see and what I hear we should all be the same cause we do the same things most of the time. More expensive houses might do a few more things and buy more expensive gifts, and things.

You'll just need to ask costs if it is an issue for you. I know a lot of girls had to drop their sorority because their parents wouldn't pay it.

Good Luck and just ask questions and look between the lines (some houses try to be more than they are).... And remember all houses are great and you'll love being Greek!

Good Luck and have fun.

When you say it's $4000 for a more expensive house for a freshman, is it $4000 for the year or semester?

$4,000 for the year + or - depending what house! Then about $8000 the next year when you actually live there

I wish people could find out the real prices before they go through rush so they know if they can even afford it. They are taking the chance away from someone who would probably be better to the Greek community anyway. BID STEALERS

Umm no if you couldn't get a bid into the house you wanted that's on you so don't be bitter and call others bid stealers, it's just unfortunate if they have to drop because of cost. I'm sure if financial reasons weren't a problem they wouldn't drop their houses

Also, I know my house lets girls live out if it's for financial reasons. One girl is also a dorm RA, which means housing is free

Not many houses just let you move out, and being a RA and living in the dorms is hard to get and you still pay sorority dues!

If you can only talk about how much dues are then don't join! My dues are probably one of the highest and if you want the best then you gotta pay!!!!! And if you can't then maybe it's not for you.

It can be pretty expensive freshman year. Usually there are one time dues you have to make as a new member. But when I moved in to my house second semester I ended up saving 2,000 dollars. So sometimes it can be cheaper than living in the dorms! A lot of sororities offer payment plans too. They want to make it work for you so just try not to worry about it too much!
