Can I Join a Fraternity as a BIPOC?
by: ?Hi I was just wondering if it's possible I can join a fraternity as a person of color. Growing up my life hasn't been easy. I was discriminated a lot for being held back and everyone saw me as an old black dude. I absolutely love the idea of being in a fraternity but I'm worried I may not get accepted for being a black male D:

You will have a harder time getting a bid for being old (Depends how old. up to mid 20s is fine but it does get harder after that) than being black. If you would rather join a historically black fraternity there are some on campus you can check out. Most are more clubs than a traditional IFC fraternity, and are smaller but have a great culture and can be a great fit, especially for a less traditional student. As for IFC, yes white people are overrepresented in Greek life, but it is not as bad as you might think. There are several BIPOC guys I know from many different houses. If the guys like you you will have no problem getting a bid. Good luck!
