Discrimination?

by: Kalliope

My cousin is a student at WSU and she participated in primary recruitment. She did not get a bid from any of the chapters and when she asked why, they all pretty much said she would have been perfect except she has a kid. I'm confused. If someone can make the commitment 100%, be present and active in the sorority, they check all the boxes, if they have a kid, its game over? Is it not possible for them to initiate her as an alumna member? She has so much time on her hands and wants to do something useful with it but be immersed in her campus and make friends since she just moved here. Are there any Panhellenic chapters that take undergrads who are moms?

Hey! So a lot of Panhellenic sororities have bylaws on membership requirements that do not allow active members to be married or have children. They’re outdated rules, but it’s generally because they want girls who will be focused on the house first! It also has to do with live-in rules sometimes too!

This seems like a troll question but I would feel sorry for a kid whose mom is a full time college student AND in a sorority. Mom’s priorities are pretty messed up.
