ranks do not matter, literally at all, like they mean absolutely nothing. join the house you want to, make the friends you want to (in your chapter or not), and just be HAPPY. Top for you is not top for someone else, and I believe that virtual recruitment will really showcase that.

As far as the experience you have in a house, this is spot on. It’s all about how good a fit you are for a house and vice versa. People can be miserable in a top house and have the happiest time of their life in a bottom house. That said, there are definite rankings as far as clout/status and to some people these are important and it does matter - probably the same people who found popularity more important than forming true, lasting friendships in high school.
