question between sign and informal

Hi Guys
So I actually don't have the answer to this one. What's the difference between Summer sign and Summer informal? or are they the same thing?
Also, I will be here in the east side and will be taking summer classes here at WSU but I heard the events are at Seattle. What can I do about that?

Formal versus Informal
Formal recruitment happens basically in August a week before school opens, you visit every house, and you have a Rho-Gam or a person to advise you about joining a sorority.
Informal- This is basically rush either during a summer event or an event during fall or spring semester. Summer rushing and sign is a lot easier than informal rushing during semester.

Can you also tell me about summer events since I will be here in pullman? I ask coz I heard some of them happen in seattle and of course I can't make it.
